Colombia Offers Reward For
Information On Killings
BOGOTA - The Colombian National Police
offered on Friday a reward of us$100,000
dollars to anyone who give information
leading to the capture of the responsible
ones of a killing of eight people in the
northwest of the country.
National Police Director, General Oscar
Naranjo, said at least two armed people
arrived at a bar in Envigado locality,
bordering Medellin, and started shooting at
people.
"At the place it was killed the Colombian-U.S.
citizen Jackson Hill and three other people,
while in the hospitals the rest of the
victims died," Naranjo told reporters.
The authorities said the killing was due to
a revenge among criminal gangs led by
Maximiliano Bonilla alias "Valenciaon" and
Angel de Jesus Pacheco alias "Sebastian."
Naranjo announced that 600 policemen will
guard the region.
Colombian President Alvaro Uribe said this
was a "regretable and grave" murder and
urged the investigation institutions to
speed up the actions leading to the capture
of the responsible ones.
"I regret it, I regret it. This means that
still we have to do more, including the
president, the Defense Ministry, the Armed
Forces, and the justice," Uribe said. |
