Venezuela Prepares Meeting of
Latin American FM
CARACAS - Venezuelan Foreign Minister
Nicolas Maduro discussed on Friday with
other Latin American high-ranking officials
the agenda of the meeting of Foreign
ministers on integration and development to
be held in Caracas tomorrow. Maduro noted
that the meeting precedes the third summit
of heads of State and Government of the
Community of Latin American and Caribbean
States, which will be held in Caracas next
year.
He appreciated the confidence placed in his
country by the new regional integration body
that Venezuela has been chairing since the
meeting held in Cancun in February this
year.
He described the constitution of the group
as a dream come true of Simon Bolivar, The
Liberator, who "saw the possibility to unite
nations in the area to create a powerful
bloc of independent republics."
Maduro said that the working plan for the
summit slated for July 5, 2011 contains the
usual issues for this kind of event,
including social problems, the eradication
of poverty and positions on climate change,
natural disasters and energy stability.
These issues are being considered and from
now until 2011 we will be formulating the
essential documents, said Maduro, who
extolled the idea of setting an agenda a
year before holding the event. |
