Tourism Board To
Use Facebook and
Twitter To
Promote Costa
Rica
Costa Rica's
tourism board,
the Instituto
Costarricense de
Turismo (ICT),
will be using
the social media
to get the
message to
potential
visitors about
vacationing in
Costa Rica. The
ICT says
Facebook and
Twitter has the
potential of
reaching 110
million people
around the
world.
Ireth Rodríguez,
head of
promotions at
the ICT, says
that the major
target is the
U.S..
"We are going to
promote Costa
Rica as a
destination,
without labels",
said Rodríguez.
A total of
1.121.044
tourist arrivals
were recorded in
the first six
months of 2010,
of which 468.172
were Americans,
continuing to be
most important
tourism market
for Costa Rica.
