An
earthquake
measuring 6.1
magnitude on the
Richter scale
hit the Pacific
coast of Costa
Rica on Monday
night, the U.S.
Geological
Society (USGS)
said last night,
while the local
geological
experts, the
Observatorio
Vulcanológico y
Sismológico de
Costa Rica (OVSICORI)
fumbles with the
information.
The earthquake
hit at 9:26pm
local time at
the epicentre
located near
Quepos (9.350°N,
84.281°W) close
to the 6.1
earthquake of
May 20, 2010.
Meanwhile the
OVSICORI (as of
6:48am) still
had to post the
seismic tremor
on its website (http://www.ovsicori.una.ac.cr/#).
On local
television last
night, OVISCORI
Seismologist
Ronnie Quintero
said the quake
occurred about
25 kilometers
from the port of
Quepos.
No casualties or
damage were
reported in last
nights
earthquake that
was felt
throughout the
country.
An Inside Costa
Rica reader
wrote on
Facebook, she
doesn't any
longer like the
number 6.1. "Too
scary", she
wrote commenting
on Monday
night's news of
the earthquake.

Since the USGS
registered 7
more earthquakes
around the world
in places like
Indonesia,
northern
California,
Japan and the
Panama-Colombia
