Venezuelan Government Shapes New Financial System

CARACAS - Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez anounced that a new financial system will be enforced to combat speculation and illegalities in the exchange of foreign currency.

The new system aims to eliminate the wheeling and dealing of the national financial oligarchy in international alliance that include parallel dollars, irregularities in exchanges houses and money laundering, Chávez explained from Miraflores Palace to Venezolana de Television, where the Council of Ministers is meeting.

According to the Venezuelan president the direction of the country evaluates the issue to give it its finishing touches.

We are revising the technical aspects of what will be announced shortly, he pointed out.

Chávez also commented on his recent telephone conversations with the presidents of Iran and Guatemala, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Alvaro Colom, respectively.

Is spoke with Ahmadinejad about the situation of Gaza, the massacre of Israel against a humanitarian fleet and the complicity of the United States, he said.

Referring to his talk with Colom the socialist leader explained that he offered his feelings of support for the victims and disappeared reported during the past few days.
