San Carlos To Have Its Highway In 36 Months

The residents of San Carlos have been waiting a long time, but soon they will have their road, or at least that is the latest in a series of promises by former governments.

San Carleños on Saturday heard Fransicos Jiménez, the ministro de Obras Públicas y Transportes (MOPT), like the words of former MOPT ministers, that the road to conenct San José with the northen community will be a reality during this administration.

The minister assured that the road, that will cost us$179 million dollars, will be finished within the next 36 months.

The road, if built as promised, will be four lanes and will have bridges that allow traffic to move in both directions at the same time.

Jiménez explained that the delays are due to expropriation problems.

Traffic to and from San Carlos and San José is now by a tow lane road that includes a series of bridge not wide enough to allow two way traffic.

However, many San Carleños are skeptical of the latest promises, for they have heard them before.
