Inflation in Bolivia with Negative Tendency

LA PAZ - The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Bolivia registered a negative variation of 0.002 percent in May, compared to that in April (0.09), as reported by an official source on Sunday.

The Bolivian National Statistics Institute (INE) report said the accumulated variation is 0.29 percent and 12 months later, the data has reached 1.38 percent.

The CPI is an indicator that measures the variations of prices of a determined group of goods and services to the population.

In May, the price of chicken meat presented the biggest negative incidence with 0.14 percent, besides tangerine with 0.06 percent, shad with 0.05 percent, and orange with 0.04 percent, among the main items.

Sugar and onion presented positive incidence, with 0.04 and 0.03 percent, respectively.

The sector of food and non-alcoholic beverages are the groups with greatest incidence.
