Coninue Their
Work To Rule
While the
officers of the
Policía de
Tránsito
continue with
their “lapiceros
caídos” (work to
rule) in protest
of the
government's
delay in paying
their salary
adjustment,
officials of the
Ministerio de
Obras Públicas y
Transportes (MOPT)
say they are
making an effort
to get
authorization to
pay.
In the meantime,
the Tránsitos
are only fining
drivers who are
speeding and
drunk drivers.
The MOPT
minister,
Francisco
Jiménez, says
that the salary
adjustment will
be paid by the
end of the
month,
explaining that
since the
officers began
their work to
rule there has
not been a
significant drop
in traffic
tickets.
However, a
source close to
Inside Costa
Rica, tells that
on Wednesday
only 25 traffic
tickets were
reported to the
Consejo Vial.
Joselito Ureña,
secretario of
the Unión
Nacional de
Técnicos y
Profesionales en
Tránsito (Unateprot)
that represents
98% of the 900
Tránsitos, is
suspicious of
the date
announced by
minister Jiménez,
insisting that
the work to rule
will continue.
