APR Energy
Renovates School
in Barranca,
Costa Rica
APR Energy (APR)
has recently
completed a
renovation
project on the
Escuela
Ciudadela
Kennedy, a
primary grade
school located
in Barranca,
Costa Rica.
Employees from
APR’s Barranca
power plant,
located
approximately
one mile from
the school,
volunteered to
replace the
electrical
system, conduct
general repair
work and repaint
the interior and
exterior of the
structure. APR
Energy also
donated school
supplies and
hosted a
completion
ceremony as part
of the project.
The completion
ceremony
included
performances by
professional
dancers,
musicians and
local school
children,
refreshments and
dedication
speeches by Karl
Bryan, APR
Energy Barranca
Project Manager,
John Campion,
Chief Executive
Officer of APR
Energy and Sr.
Pedro Pablo
Quirós C., ICE
Executive
President.

order to give
development to
the country.”
said Mr. Quirós.
Mr. Quirós and
15 other
officials from
ICE, the
national
electric utility
of Costa Rica,
attended the
event to show
their support
for APR Energy’s
Community
Service Program.
Approximately
500 community
members
including
teachers from
Escuela
Ciudadela
Kennedy, members
of the local
school board and
local residents
also attended
the event.
The school
renovation
project was part
of APR Energy’s
ongoing
Community
Service
initiative which
is being
implemented
throughout
communities all
over the world
where each of
their power
plants is
located.

need for
education is one
of the most
important things
that we have a
responsibility
for.”
APR’s Barranca
power plant has
been operational
since 2007 and
is currently
providing 90MW
of electricity
to the country
of Costa Rica.
