Autopistas Says They Will Keep To Same Work Schedule

Although he is not happy about it, Crisitan Sandoval, the general manager of Autopistas del Sol is accepting the order to shut down the 11 kilometres of the San José - Caldera between Atenas and Orotina, saying the concessionaire will not vary from its program of "intervention" and the existing work schedule.

Sandoval added that the work on the high risk points is about 85% complete and that the work carried out during the past couple of weeks has diminished the possibility of more collapses along the route.

The executive said that, despite all recommendations are welcome, that the order is specific and priorities will be given to the measures reported by the MOPT.

Sandoval added that in a week more information will be available and new report will be tabled and that there have been no talks between the concessionaire and the MOPT, the next schedule meeting is at the end of the next week.

In the meantime, the San José - Caldera is closed to traffic indefinitely.
