Legislators
Still Without
Consensus On
Work Agenda
At the beginning
of May there had
been high hopes
that the new
crop of
legislators
would bring
promise, hope
and stability in
the legislative
process,
following a
group of
outgoing
legislators that
were classed as
one of the worst
sessions in the
country's
history.
However, six
weeks after
their May 1
start,
legislators have
yet to reach a
consensus on the
work agenda.
About the only
thing that was
agreed to and
then disagreed
as the
controversial
self-imposed pay
hike, which was
quickly dropped
with the
intervention of
the
administrative
branch of
government, with
the threat of a
veto by
Presidenta
Chinchila.
