Salud To Evict
450 From
Legislative
Assembly Complex
Come 2pm today
(Wednesday, June
16) a group of
legislative
employees and
executives will
be on the
street,
literally, as
the ministerio
de Saud (Health
Ministry) will
carry out its
eviction order
of three
buildings that
make up the
Legislative
Assembly complex
in downtown San
José.
The eviction
order will
remove some 450
people from
their offices.
The eviction
order goes back
to actions in
2005 and 2007 by
the health
ministry,
warning the
Legislative
Assembly of the
poor state of
the buildings in
question.
The Legislative
Assembly has
been duly
notified and the
eviction of the
Edificio Sión,
Casa Rosada and
the Castillo
Azul, where some
40 legislators
and some 400
aids and support
staff work.
Luis Gerardo
Villanueva, the
president of the
Legislative
Assembly,
yesterday
afternoon denied
that the
evictions would
take place
today, saying
that he has been
in negotiations
with the health
authorities.
"The ministra de
Salud needs to
be put in her
place", said
Luis Fishman,
legislator and
former
presidential
candidate for
the PUSC party.
For the time
being presidenta
Chinchilla is
staying out of
the controversy,
though
expressing her
concerns for the
