Ads In Mall Now Sent By Way Of Bluetooth

When visiting the Mall San Pedro on San José east side, best is to turn off you "bluetooth", for the the Radiográfica Costarricense (Racsa) is trying out a new marketing technique, sending out commercial messages to cellular phones.

The success of the San Pedro trial will move to other malls like Multiplaza, both Este and Escazú and possibly the Juan Santamaría (San José) airport.

How does it work?

Racsa is offering its customers (retailers) to send their messages for up to 21 cell phone users at one time, as they walk the corridors of the mall. The message is heard by those users who have their bluetooth connected and worn in their ear.

The cost of the service starts at ¢8.000 colones a day to the retailer.

Customers can send messages of discount offers, coupons or temporary promotions. Of course, cell phone users have the option to accept to receive the messages or not.
