Colombian Army Offers $1.3
Million To Information Reporter
BOGOTA – The Colombian Army will give a
reward of us$1.3 million dollars to a former
guerilla member who gave information on
rescuing three policemen and one military in
June, the Army said on Wednesday.
Commander of the Army, General Oscar
Gonzalez said that the demobilized guerilla
member will receive the money for having
revealed the location of the Revolutionary
Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) camp in
Guaviare department, south of the country,
where the hostages were rescued.
"The former guerilla member is under
protection by the authorities," Gonzalez
said.
Gonzalez also presented a video when General
Luis Mendieta, Colonels Enrique Murillo and
William Donato of the Police and sergeant
Arbey Delgado of Army were released after 11
years of captivity.
Currently the FARC has held at least 18
militaries and policemen as hostages.
The FARC has proposed a humanitarian
exchange to release those hostages in
exchange of the freedom of more than 500
imprisoned guerilla members.
