Salvadoran President to Visit Brazil

SAN SALVADOR - President Mauricio Funes of El Salvador announced he will visit Brazil in August to foster trade relations and meet with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Funes said in a news conference that he will lead a delegation of business people to promote El Salvador's image as an attractive option for Brazilian investors.

The statesman did not specify the days of his visit, but said he expects to meet with representatives from the Sao Paulo Industrial Federation, which will help organize a a fair exhibiting Salvadoran products.

The business group is Brazil's most important, Funes said, which is why he expects the two countries can negotiate to increase their trade.
