Ruta 32, San
José - Limón, is
closed this
morning and will
be for most of
the day due to a
major landslide
yesterday
afternoon.
The Ministerio
de Obras
Públicas y
Transportes (MOPT)
shut down the
highway hours
after
re-opening.
The road had
been closed
between 5am and
11am to allow a
team of experts
to evaluate the
road to predict
and avoid
landslides. The
work of the
experts from
Spain will be
closing the road
every morning up
to the weekend.
According to
David Meléndez,
director de
Emergencias del
MOPT, the
closure will
probably for
most of the day
Wednesday as
work crews
continue the
clean up work.
