KFC In Costa Rica To Pay us$2.000 To Woman For Cockroach In Food

Costa Rica's KFC franchisee was ordered by the Tribunal Primero Civil de San José to pay Natalia Carrillo Zamora one million colones for serving her a "cockroach" in her meal.

The 24 year old woman had sued Kentucky Fried Chiken (KFC) de Costa Rica Sociedad Anónima after finding a cockroach in her biscuit.

Natalia, a student of public relations at the Universidad Latina, said she felt justice was served and vindicated for her suffering after learning of the decision of the court.

"I believe the court acted correctly", said Natalia.

The case goes back some two years when Natalia found the roach in the biscuit she had purchased at the KFC in Real Cariari. Natalia said she bought the biscuit during a lunch break when she found the cockroach stuck to the bottom the biscuit she had already taken a bite of.

The young woman says she has never set foot again in a KFC restaurant and does not know what she will do with her almost us$2.000 the court awarded KFC to pay her.
