More than two
hundre gay and
lesbians used
Paseo Colón and
other dowtown
streets to
parade on Sunday
to celebrate (
Gay Pride Day
Día de Orgullo
Gay).
 
Javier Umaña
Rivera, one of
the two
organizers of
the event, said
that the purpose
of the event
this year, apart
from honoring
the rights that
homosexuals in
the country, is
that they
disagree is made
the "referendum"
by the
acceptance of
gay marriage.
"We are a
minority and if
we face the

Taking part in
the event were

Parque Central.
Gay pride is the
concept that
lesbian, gay,
bisexual, and
transgender
people should be
proud of their
sexual
orientation and
gender identity.
The movement has
three main
premises: that
people should be
proud of their
sexual
orientation and
gender identity,
that diversity
is a gift, and
that sexual
orientation and
gender identity
are inherent and
cannot be
intentionally
