Many Costa Ricans Prefer Vacationing Somewhere Else

While thousands - around 2 million last year - head for Costa Rica for their vacation, many Costa Ricans head out of Costa Rica for the same.

According to the records of the Costa Rican immigration service, some 3.301 Costa Ricans took out a passport between May 1 and 23 and 3.745 for the same period this month.

Immigration officials say this is normal as Costa Ricans plan their mid-year vacation.

The immigration service says it handles on average 300 passport applications daily.
