Lottery Fever For The "Gordito"

The Junta de Proteccion Social de San Jose (JPS) says that with only a week of being issued, the "Gordito" - the mid year big lottery is selling like the proverbial hotcakes.

The Gordito draw is Sunday at 7pm and is the second biggest prize payout, second to the "Gordo" which is issued for Christmas.

The big prize is ¢200 million colones for an "entero" (an entire ticket) or ¢20 million for a "pedacito" (a fraction).

An "entero" is made up of 10 fractions and sells for ¢10.000 or ¢1.000 for each piece.
