Uruguay: To Host More
Argentinean Tourism
MONTEVIDEO - Uruguayan Minister of Tourism
and Sports Hector Lescano said on Monday
that he expects an increase of Argentinean
tourism to this country after clearing the
bridge linking both sides.
Environmentalists of the Argentinean city of
Gualeguaychú cleared for 60 days the closure
of the viaduct San Martin, as a result of
the dispute because of the Pasta Plant UPM,
Botnia in the past.
"I strongly hope that this time we have a
summer season without bridge closures, but I
prefer to be cautious with the issue," said
Lescano.
In the framework of the new bilateral
relationship with Argentina, Lescano said
that he will meet his Argentinean
counterpart before August.
Lescano also believes that both countries
could also attend together some of the major
international fairs.
"These aspects will be incorporated in the
presidential resolution, because the
Argentinean tourism is very important to the
country," Lescano pointed out.
Lescano noted that his ministry is working
hard on the revaluation of the domestic
tourism in Uruguay, generating a figure
close to 400,000,000 dollar each year, which
in 2010 is expected to increase a 10
percent.
Programs to train future human resources
staff of the sector and promote sustainable
and integrated development of Montevideo are
also part of the ministry's projects, stated
Lescano.
Uruguayan Minister of Tourism had a year's
profit of 1.35 billion dollars in 2009. |
