Panama President
Prepares New World Tour
PANAMA - Panama President Ricardo Martinelli
will begin on February 28 a work tour which
includes visits to Qatar and Israel and
focuses on technology, cooperation and
security issues, reported the Government.
According to the Secretary of State for
Communication, Martinelli will discuss a
project to build a refinery in the
Panamanian area of the Armuelles Harbor.
Initial studies carried out by Qatar
Petroleum and Occidental Petroleum showed
that it is possible to negotiate the
building of a plant with a capacity to
process 360,000 crude oil barrels.
Martinelli will also visit the industrial
city of Ralaffan, the largest gas complex in
Qatar, which was built to exploit the
deposit and develop the hydrocarbon industry
in that country.
Later, Panamanian President will travel to
Israel on March 1st. There he will meet his
counterpart Shimon Peres in order to discuss
cooperation issues on security, agricultural
and technology transfer spheres. |
