Quake Makes It Home On Thursday
Rebecca Para was the first Costa Rican to
survive Chile earthquake to make it home.
And yesterday at the Juan Santamaría (San
José) international airport, was met by
Ginnés Rodríguez and the Teletica cameras on
her arrival.
Rebecca was in Chile to visit family and was
to have been back in Costa Rica last Monday.
However, the Saturday morning 8.8 earthquake
shut down the Santiago de Chile
international airport, trapping Rebecca and
thousands of foreigners in the earthquake
battered country.
The conditions in Chile went from an average
of 25.000 passengers and 380 flights daily
to one flight her hour.
TACA airlines says it has some 20 other
Costa Ricans waiting to leave Chile and is
hoping to bring everybody home in the coming
days.
According to the Foreign Ministry, a total
of 170 Costa Ricans were in Chile at the
time of the earthquake.
