Defend Education System Changes
PANAMA - Changes in the education system of
Panama are among the priorities of this
sector''s authorities, who show interest
regarding the fact that young people
continue to study and continue preparing
themselves before they start working.
Minister of Education Lucy Molinar defended
on Friday the need to promote curricular
transformation to prevent students from
leaving the educational system.
She added there is a pilot plan aimed at
solving the problem that will be implemented
on March 8, when classes begin, in 63 public
centers of secondary education in the
country with 16 high schools.
Molinar admitted that repairing schools is
not included in this plan because the
government chose to focus on the permanent
maintenance.
The ministry included the prison system in
these actions as a resocialization option
for less dangerous inmates, who are
interested in obtaining benefits from
working at schools.
Regarding that issue, there are unions of
professors against the curricular
transformation since they assure that it was
hurriedly designed and they did not rule out
the possibility of a national demonstration
to protest against it. |
