Alajuelita Rotonda Closed Off At Night

Note that the Alajuelita rotonda will be closed for the next four nights from 9pm to 5am to allow for re-construction of the rotonda to advance.

The closure began Friday night to Monday night, but may be extended further if work on the construction of the overpass advance sufficiently in the four days.

It is important to note that the rotonda will be completely closed off to vehicular traffic.

The Alajuelita rotonda is located on the Circunvalación that runs on the south side of San José, between Hatillos and San Sebastián.

This will be the third rotonda on the Circunvalación that will see a major change, with the addition of an overpass. The first was at Desamparados, then San Sebastián and now Alajuelita.

The rotondas worked well when traffic volume was much lower. Now they are major traffic nightmare at peak hours.

Other rotondas that are expected to undergo changes in the future are the Paso Ancho and Zapote.
