Venezuela Reiterates Rejection to US Bases in Colombia

CARACAS - Venezuelan Deputy Aurora Morales reiterated on Tuesday the danger that the presence of US military stations in Colombia represents for the countries of the region.

We are willing to talk, but as long as the doors of Colombia are open to US forces, there can not be a full reestablishment of relations between Caracas and Bogota, said the member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Venezuelan National Assembly.

Relations between both countries froze after the accusations of President Alvaro Uribe regarding the alleged links of Venezuela and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).

Regarding the accusations of a Spanish judge that try to link the Hugo Chavez administration with ETA, a separatist organization, the parliamentarian emphasized they are part of a crusade of reactionary forces against Latin American countries.

We have nothing to do with ETA, we are encouraged by unity, integration and goodwill purposes with the rest of the nations, said Morales.
