Bajo Los Anonos Families To Be Relocated
The Bajo Los Anonos in
Escazú, the community immediately south at
the bottom of the Anonos bridge separating
San José and Escazú, has been home to many
families for some 50 years. However, some of
the families have now to move as part of a
relocation plan by authorities.
The reason for the relocation is that the
area has deemed a high risk zone.
Affected by the relocation are at least 20
families, who for the most part will be
moving to new housing in Guápiles, Siquirres
and Pocora in the Atlantic zone.
The mayor of Escazú assures that all is set
for the relocation that will begin next week
and that those families with their "bonos de
vivienda" (housing bonds) will have their
new home.
Howeve, residents are not so sure of the
plan and say that if a viable solution is no
given them, protests will be the order of
the day in order to pressure authorities. |
