Two Years to Reconstruct Chilean Infrastructure

SANTIAGO de CHILE - At least two years will take to improve road connectivity, to reestablish drinkable water supply and to normalize productive infrastructures in the areas stroke by the quake.

According to Diario de la Nacion newspaper those will be the three main objectives of the new reconstruction committee of the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) presented by its minister Hernan de Solminihac.

The Minister asked the group to work urgently in each of the areas they represent, but to work fine and quick.

According to MOP minister the costs of the damages caused by the quake in that sector may increase to four hundred million dollars although those numbers are updated every day.

He showed his hope that at least in two year everything will be the way it was before.

He emphasized about they have to learn the lesson about construction rules in the country. That is related to the fact that the buildings which seemed of great quality were destroyed by the 8.8 quake last February 27.

The minister remarked that they should learn about that lesson and that to improve procedures and rule change can be an alternative.
