President-Elect Chinchilla Announces More
Ministers and Institution Heads
The president of the Caja Costarricense de
Seguro Social (CCSS), Eduardo Doryan Garrón,
will head the Instituto Costarricende de
Electricidad (ICE) in the next government,
president-elect, Laura Chinchilla, announced
on Tuesday.
During the press conference, doña Laura also
announced the new head of the Refinadora
Costarricense de Petróleo (Recope), will be
current manager of the state refinery, Jorge
Enrique Villalobos Clare.
As to her ministers, doña Laura named
Teófilo de la Torre, former ICE president,
to be the next ministro de Ambiente, Energía
y Telecomunicaciones (Minaet); Clotilde
Fonseca Quesada, the director of Fundación
Omar Dengo, and wife of the current
president of the Legislative Assembly,
Francisco Antonio Pacheco, will be the next
ministra de Ciencia y Tecnología; and, Laura
Alfaro Maykall will be the ministra
Planificación.
The press conference took place at the
Torremolinos hotel, in La Sabana. In
addition to the press conference,
president-elect Chinchilla used the social
networking sites of Facebook and Twitter and
live on UStream, as proof that the next
government will use the internet to interact
with the public.
