"A Lie" That There Are
Barrios In San José That Even Police Will
Not Enter
In a show of force to dispel the lie that
there are "barrios" in San José that not
even the police will enter, as the Organismo
de Investigación Judicial (OIJ), backed up
by the Fuerza Pública, descended on one of
San José's most conflicted areas, the
Aguantafilo in Hatillo.
Armed with guns and warrants police took the
barrio by storm looking for some of the most
wanted criminals in the country.

The quick police action took everyone in the
barrio, especially the anti-socials when
police went as far as the "alamedas", areas
generally under control of the criminal
gangs that inhabit the area.
In a matter of minutes police had a number
of the wanted in handcuffs as the rest of
the gang members began setting fire to some
of the "bunkers" that are used to store
drugs and weapons and hide out.
As a bonus, police had in the hands a man
with an "important' quantity of illegal
drugs and cash.
Following the police action, the fire
department had to respond to the fires set
by the criminals.
