Rejection of US Interference
in Nicaragua Grows
MANAGUA - Rejection of US interference in
Nicaragua''s internal affairs grows in this
capital, while the opposition media tries to
diminish the importance of the governmental
protest, and justify the US ambassador in
Managua.
The Nicaraguan government, on behalf of its
ambassador to the Organization of American
States (OAS) Denis Moncada on Wednesday
protested the US constantly meddling
Nicaraguan affairs.
The Nicaraguan diplomat directly accused US
ambassador in Managua Robert Callahan for
getting involved in the internal affairs of
the Central American nation.
The latest expression of that permanent US
interference was evident this week, when
Callahan refused to attend the act for the
inauguration of a highway section built with
funds from the Millennium Challenge Account,
sponsored by Washington.
Amid this situation, official Bulletin El 19
today publishes statements by several
relevant political figures and people
interviewed on streets expressing support
for the protest, and rejection of the US
interference.
It quotes commander Eden Pastora as saying
that the US ambassador can no longer be
allowed to constantly attack national and
municipal institutions, with the intention
of weakening them. |
