San José - Caldera Tolls To Go Down

Yes, you are reading it right, the tolls on the autopistas San José - Caldera will be going down as of April 1, 2010. The new, lower rates, were published as an ad by the road concessionaire, Autopistas del sol, in Friday's La Nación.

The new toll charges for passenger vehicles and motorcycles at Escazú will come down to ˘300 from the current ˘320; ˘460 from ˘490 at San Rafael (La Guacima); ˘610 from ˘640 at Atenas; and ˘460 from ˘480 at Pozón, for a total toll charge of ˘1.830 from the current ˘1.930.

The tolls at the on/off ramps at Guácima, Siquiares, Atenas and Rampa Pozón are also going down. And although Autopistas del Sol publishes tolls for the Cuidad Colón (Piedades de Santa Ana) on/off, that toll continues suspended until further notice.

Buses and trucks with 2 to 5 axles and more will also pay less.

The reduction is rate is to reflect the lower dollar exchange rate.

Under the concession contract, Autopistas can adjust the toll charges quarterly.
