No Vehicular Restriction Of
San José This Week
The Ministerio Obras Públicas y Transportes
(MOPT) says it will not apply the vehicular
restrictions of San José the entire week of
Semana Santa, beginning with today Monday,
March 29.

The restrictions will resume on Monday,
April 5.
The suspension is due that central
government and most of the state agencies
and institutions are closed, as well as
large number of large and small offices and
businesses.
The vehicular restriction is to reduce the
amount of traffic in the downtown core to
alleviate the growing congestion. Since
traffic in the downtown core is being
reduced by the closings, there is no need to
exhaust the resources of the Policía de
Tránsito, which are being redirected to the
major highways and spot checks.
The suspension of the restrictions also
apply to all heavy trucks.
