Court Sets Free
22 Accused Of
Violence
Protests In
Limón On
Thursday
The Juzgado
Penal de Limón
set free 22 of
the protestors
alleged to be
behind the
violence in
Limón on
Thursday,
preferring to
hold on to one
women, who will
be preventive
detention.
The woman,
identified by
her last name,
Briones, is said
to be the cause
of the violence
that resulted in
the injury of
several police
officers and the
setting fire of
7 tractor
trailers in a
tense day in the
Caribbean port
town.
The 41 year old
woman is accused
of being the
leader behind
the barricades,
charged with
obstruction of
public roads,
resisting arrest
and causing
damage to
property.
Although the
other 22 will be
be waiting out
their trial date
in jail, they
will have to
sign in at least
once a month at
the Ministerio
Público and to
harass any of
the victims or
witnesses, as
well as stay
away from
participating in
any public
demonstrations.
