Sex social
workers in Costa
Rica have joined
the Argentinian
organization in
Latin America
for the rights.
The organization
slogan is
"making sex work
for visible
social
inclusion" The
network brings
together sex
social workers
from the
different
countries in
Latin America.

"We have the
same needs,
although we live
in different
countries. We
have
the same mission
and suffer the
same injustices,
but we did not
know it,
until we united".

In Costa Rica,
the group call
themselves the "Asociación
La Sala",
bringing
together current
and former
social sex
workers in an
organization
that aims to
better the
quality of life
of all women.
The Sala is
located in San
José, on Avenida
5 and Calle 6
and 8, in the
old Canda Dry
building, and
offers sex
social workers a
space to share,
relax, be
informed and get
references to
health services.
The actions of
La Sala include
advice to
inquiries of
police abuse,
domestic
violence,
evictions,
addiction
procedures in
public
institutions,
health,
relationships
and sexual
orientation and
support in
finding
alternative
employment.
Heading the
group are Nubia
Ordoñez Ugalde
and Grettel
Quirós Pastrano,
who on their
webpage say "we
are organized".
The group
intends to plan
protest marches
to bring
attention to
their cause,
although they do
not specify a
date as yet.
