Eye on Panama Dengue
Situation
PANAMA - Panamanian health authorities are
keeping careful track of the dengue
situation in that country, with nationwide
actions aimed at neutralizing the presence
of the agent causing the disease.
According to epidemiologic figures, until
March 27, there were 416 cases infected with
the classic strain and one with the
hemorrhagic one, with the majority reported
in the metropolitan area of the capital.
Amid this situation, the Health Ministry
fosters the fumigation of irrigation areas,
along with preventive actions in communities
and schools.
The Pan-American Health Organization
informed that until March 9, 146,000 cases
of dengue had been reported in regional
countries, with 79 deaths.
