Protests Will Be
Part Of
Presidential
Swearing In
Ceremony
The Asociación
de Profesores de
Segunda
Enseñanza
(APSE), the
Sindicato de
Trabajadores de
Japdeva, the
Sindicato de
Educadores
Universitarios
and the Partido
Vanguardia
Popular, have
said that they
will be holding
a protest march
on Saturday, the
same day of the
swearing in
ceremony of
president-elect
Laura
Chinchilla.
The protest
march is called
for 9am for the
gathering at the
La Merced church
in downtown San
José, the walk
along Paseo
Colón to the
Sabana park
where the
Traspaso de
Poderes ceremony
will be taking
place beginning
at 10am.
The unions say
the protest
march it to show
their
unhappiness with
the dock
concessions in
Limón and the
law regarding
the salaries of
public
employees.
A group opposing
the Crucitas
open mine
project have
said they will
be joining the
protest as well. |
