Best To Avoid Driving In And Around The Sabana Park On Saturday

A strong "safety ring" will be established around the Parque Metropolitano La Sabana (Sabana park) beginning the early hours of Saturday night, with some 400 police officers and road closures as part of the security of the Traspaso de Poderes ceremony.

The Avenida Las Americas (the road running on the north side of the part, in front of the ICE building), Calle 42 (the east side of the park), the MAG-Universal (south side of the park) and the Calle that runs on the west side, in front of Canal 7, will all be closed off to vehicular traffic on Saturday.

Traffic on the Próspero Fernández (San José - Caldera) will be controlled from the Sabana park and the General Cañas (San José-Alajuela) will be monitored.

Paseo Colón and with the expected protest march, will be a mess.

Only "authorized" vehicles will be allowed in the security ring, according to Erick Lacayo, director of the Fuerza Pública (police).

In addition, a squad of Tránsito (traffic) officials will be on hand to control traffic in the surrounding area.

Best advice, is to avoid driving anywhere near the Saban park on Saturday.
