Cuban Docs in Guatemala Sign
Code of Honour
GUATEMALA - The code of honor was
signed by the renewed leadership of the
medical brigade that bears more than 11
years working in Guatemala.
A new stage of work, with grater vigor and
conviction, starts for this group, the
cadres of which are different in the 60
percent of the cases, according to
coordinator Henry Carreño.
Carreño confirmed to Prensa Latina the
presence of 360 health workers in 18 of the
22 Guatemalan departments, 38 of them
signatories to the code during an
ethics-reaffirmation ceremony in Guatemala
City.
Representatives of the Cuban Embassy and the
rest of official Cuban missions in Guatemala
witnessed the commitment assumed by those
who already lead the work of the Island's
medical collaboration.
These collaborators follow the path taken in
late 1998, when the first professionals,
technicals and other aid workers came to
heal the wounds left in Guatemala by the
devastating Hurricane Mitch.
They are joined by others who have come
recently to the medical brigado to work in
Operation Miracle, with important results in
ophthalmological care in a short time. |
