World Cup Fever
Shoots Up Sales
Of Televisions
In less than a
month the World
Cup 2010 gets
underway in
South Africa.
But another kind
of competition
is already being
played in Costa
Rica, that of
the big (or
small) screen
televisions.
The major
retailers in
Costa Rica want
to cash in on
the soccer fever
and are offering
all kinds of
deals on all
sizes of
televisions,
from portable to
the big screen,
from LCD to LED.
Of course the
best deal (for
the retailers)
are those
purchases on
credit, where
the World Cup
games will be
over and done
with, but the
rewards are
still reaping
in.
At local
Pricesmart store
in Escazú,
shoppers are
bombarded with
an array of
television sets
within feet of
the front door.
Over the
weekend,
television set
after television
set was being
jammed into the
vehicles in the
parking lot.
The same story
is at the Gollo,
Casa Blanca and
Monge stores,
who offer, for a
few colones
every two weeks,
instant credit
to take home the
biggest screen
that fits into
the payment
plan. |
