Gap Year Travellers Can Surf In Costa Rica

Surf fanatics wishing to embark on a gap year adventure might want to consider Costa Rica. Writing for Suite101.com, Jill Douglass has described the conditions for the activity in the country as "fabulous".

The journalist noted that despite most areas along the Pacific Coast of the nation being ideal for the sport, the best places to head to are Tamarindo and Mal Pais.

Ms Douglass described the former as a "laid-back, hippy kind of town" but noted more and more tourists are visiting the destination for the surfing experience on offer.

She added that it is "one of the friendliest places" in Costa Rica.

Mal Pais is a beach best known for its surfing and Ms Douglass recommended it is only for experienced participants as the waters can be a little unpredictable.

Fellow Suite101.com writer Thomas Wyatt recently advised that travellers to Costa Rica should check out Corcovado National Park for its wildlife and scenery.
