Vaccination Against Flu
GUATEMALA - At least 765,000
Guatemalans were vaccinated against
influenza A (H1N1) since the start of a
campaign last April and in June it will
correspond to those now suffering from
chronic illness.
The vaccination campaign began for people at
high risk to be infected, as the health
sector staff and pregnant women.
That ministry reiterates its calls for
people to adopt the necessary measures for
the outbreak of the virus, especially at the
beginning of winter (rainy season) when the
traditional influenza infections multiply.
Experts warn that from June the number of
infected may grow if there is a trend
similar to last yearâ�Ös.
Therefore, they call for the practice of
preventive measures such as those developed
when the disease emerged in 2009, such as
avoiding crowds, and go to health centers if
there are symptoms of the flu with headaches
and fever.
To treat those who become infected the MINSA
has 35 000 portions of Tamiflu, which healed
more than one thousand infected last year,
but 18 deaths were inevitable.
In addition, the institution received the
necessary preventive vaccines to be applied
