Egypt, Venezuela to
Strengthen Ties
CAIRO - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affaire
to Africa Reinaldo Bolivar heads the
Venezuelan delegation to the first
Egypt-Venezuela joint commission to
strengthen ties and multilateral cooperation
between the two countries.
Bolivar came in Cairo on Saturday evening
heading the delegation, made up of
Venezuelan ministries of Oil and Energy,
Tourism, Culture, Trade, Communications and
Information, Science and Technology and
Education.
Venezuelan diplomatic sources in Cairo said
that the joint commission's meeting will be
held from May 17 to18 in order to strengthen
the diplomatic ties established in 1950
officially.
Bolivar said that he want to sign new
agreements and to carry out agriculture,
energy, trade, tourism, culture and
education joint projects.
According to the sources, it is also
expected the sign of agreements on science
and technology, information and
communication spheres.
Egypt and Venezuela have signed cooperation
agreements the branches of oil, energy,
economy, technology, tourism, culture
before.
To Venezuelan Ambassador to Egypt Victor
Carazo, the first joint commission "is a
great opportunity to strengthen cooperation
with Egypt in strategic spheres for the both
countries."
According to the Venezuelan government,
Cairo pays an important roll in Africa and
the Middle East, because it is the most
densely populated city (more than 80
millions inhabitants), which acts as a hinge
between Africa and Asia.
Egypt is also hosts regional organizations
as the League of Arab Status, heads the
Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and is an
observer member in the Organization of
Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). |
