The "Yo Yo Dollar" Gains Almost ˘18.5 Colones In Two Days

The up and down of the dollar exchange took a move up this week, gaining ˘18.5 colones since Monday, the biggest single jump ˘11.78 was on Tuesday.

Today the dollar exchange is ˘525.40 for the buy and ˘536.16 for the sell and is expect to increase even further today.

However, the same as last week could happen where the dollar exchange opened with a high of ˘532.78 for the buy and ˘544.43 for the sell, following days of constant increases, hit a low of ˘507.43 for the buy and ˘517.32 for the sell.

The rates are those set by the Banco Central de Costa Rica (BCCR) or Central Bank daily and may slightly different from that of the state and private banks.

A good indication of what is happening at any given time, check with the real time posting of the rates by all the banks and financial institutions listed on the BCCR website.

Banks and financial institutions are required to report to the Central Bank any changes in their exchange rates within 10 minutes.
