Argentine President for
Strong Intl Financial Reform
MADRID - Argentine President Cristina
Fernandez called for a deep reform of the
world financial system and reconstruction of
multilateralism in international relations,
during the inauguration of the 6th
Europe-Latin American-Caribbean Summit (UE-ALC).
During her address, the South American
president said a reconstruction of
multilateralism in the political and
economic order is needed.
We must understand it is imperative to
redefine world concepts and behaviors,
because it is time to change and we all have
that responsibility, stressed Fernandez when
addressing the 27 European leaders and 33
Latin Americans.
The countries with greater presence at
multilateral organizations are the ones with
greatest responsibility, she noted.
Cristina called upon the group of 20 (G-20)
to thoroughly tackle the regulation of world
financial capitals during the meting to be
held in June in Toronto, Canada.
As member of G-20, it is necessary we
analyze such problems as regulation of
capitals, investment banks, and tax heavens,
she sustained.
All those reforms have been never
materialized, and crisis situations are
recurrent, regretted the president, who
spoke at the bi-regional forum on behalf of
MERCOSUR, the customs union grouping
Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, and Paraguay. |
