Panama Set To
Sue Costa Rica

The Panamanian

Wednesday that
it has hired a
group of lawyers
to prepare to
file a legal
suit against the
Costa Rican
online news
website, El
País.
The government
agency said they
are taking legal
actions against
those
responsible for
defaming Panama.
The anger of
Panamas
government
follows a report
by Carlos
Salazar of the
online website,
http://www.elpais.cr,
alleged that the
Panama Canal is
controlled by
the Israelis.
The Panamanians
says that the
claim is
"against the
security of
Panama and the
Canal".
"It is
unfortunate that
published was
false and
injurious news
on their website
in our sister
country, Costa
Rica. Clearly
there is a 'mano
negra' behinf
the publications
byt Mr. [Carlos]
Salazar", the
statement said.
The online
website
bananarepublic.com
says that "it
was only a
matter of time
before the
short-fused
Martinelli and
his government
of muñecos
de la mafia
would take
the bait that
Costa Rican
online paper El
País has been
dangling in
front of their
noses for over a
week now,
publishing
allegations that
connect
Martinelli with
money
laundering, drug
trafficking and
wholesale
corruption. And,
yes! Martinelli
took it hook,
line and sinker
and announced
today that he
would start
legal action
against the
publication".

The Panamian
newspaper,
La Prensa
reports that
Carlos Salazar
of El País is
utterly
unimpressed by
Martinelli’s
announcement.
“They think they
can threaten
journalists in
Costa Rica just
like they do in
Panama”, Salazar
commented, “but
they’re never
going to
intimidate us”.
