Bridge Closed
Indefinitely
The Comisión
Nacional de
Emergencias (CNE)
has ordered the
closing of the
bridge between
Desamparados and
Acosta, Aserrí
and San Rafael
Arriba de
Desamparados.
The closure was
ordered after
experts
determined that
the bridge could
collapse under
the weight of
traffic and
ordered an
indefinite
closure until
the bridge is
repaired or
replaced.
The closure came
as a surprise
this morning for
the thousands
who use the
bridge daily, as
traffic police
was posted at
both sides of
the bridge,
leaving drivers
to find an
alternate route,
while causing
tremendous
congestion in
the area.
Area residents
were forced to
walk to and from
work, school and
shopping, as
buses cannot
make the
crossing of the
bridge.
