ICE To Improve
GSM Coverage On
The San José -
Caldera
Driving along
the San José -
Caldera can be
frustrating for
those on the GSM
cellular
network, as
calls are
dropped
regularly along
different
sections of the
highway.
As such the
Superintendencia
de
Telecomunicaciones
(SUTEL) has sent
a note to the
Instituto
Costarricense de
Electricidad
(ICE) to improve
coverage along
the highway.
ICE says it has
improved or is
in the process
of improving
connections in
the areas of
Balsa de Atenas,
Pozón, Brasil de
Santa Ana,
Ventanas Garita,
Peaje de Ciudad
Colón,
Turrúcares, San
Pablo de
Turrubares and
Coyolar de
Orotina.
Hampering ICE is
the delays in
acquiring land
to erect radio
bases and
towers.
Those on the 3G
network are not
affected.
Editor's note:
It is prohibited
to drive and
talk on a
cellular phone.
If you need to
make a call or
take on, best is
to pull over. |
