Bad Roads. Our

These so called
road exceed the
word (BAD) the
roads in Costa
Rica other then
some of the
newer toll roads
that Costa Rica
sold out on
because the
government is to
stupid to
organize
themselves are
at best
described a
quilt.
A patch
work of asphalt
repairs that are
both dangerous
and extremely
hard on your
vehicle. I
replace my front
end at least
once a year. In
a country where
taxes exceed 52%
for duties,
gasoline is
$135. a litre,
we pay a tax
called the
macho, and a
annual
inspection that
is considered a
joke to most,
just look around
40 year old car
pass with tire
leaning to the
side and clouds
of smoke coming
from
unmaintained
buses, you would
think the road
system would be
one of the best.
Have you every
looked at where
the dollars are
allocated to
from gasoline
tax and the
macho? Not the
roads.
Costa Rica likes
to take money in
but only gives
it back to their
own (government
employees) the
rest can suffer
with lack of
road signs,
potholes, lack
of lighting,
etc, I have been
in construction
for 20 years and
I could design
and build better
hog tied and
blind folded.
The government
has no interest
in improving the
road system
their to busy
voting on raises
and giving
themselves more
benefits.
This gives a
whole new
meaning to
banana republic.
By the way I
could use some
of that
government
money, I offer
my services to
Mopt, as they
don’t know what
there doing. ( I
need to be paid
in advance,
would you trust
them?)

I am puzzled why
the NEW
autopista to
Jaco was
purposely built
with the bridges
having less
lanes than the
other sections
of highway! We
aren’t talking
about expansion
that left the
bridge
smaller…but a
road built from
the start with
that difference.
This causes
slow-downs and
is also a death
trap! I know it
was probably
less expensive
and much less
work to build
smaller bridges
but what is the
point when it is
going to cause
slow-downs and
many deadly
accidents.

Instead of
bitching and
complaining
(like a bunch of
whiny gringos),
why don’t you
(Inside Costa
Rica) do
something
positive. Start
by organizing
positive actions
against the
Chinchilla
Administration
to force them to
recognize the
problem and to
do something
about it. Get
ticos involved.
They are the
one’s getting
killed. Get the
cops involved.
Don’t just ask
people to write
about how bad
the roads are.
They suck. We
know it and
writing about
them won’t get
them fixed.
