Venezuelan Socialists Add
More Militants
CARACAS - The United Socialist Party of
Venezuela (PSUV) accepted new members that
include dozens of militants of the Patria
Para Todos (PPT) party previously integrated
to the process headed by President Hugo
Chavez.
Before official acceptance they met in the
capital to define strategies of campaign and
select a national command for the
forthcoming parliamentary elections next
November.
Chavez who participated in the meeting
welcomed the PPT militants and praised their
commitment to the revolutionary process and
promised to lead them towards a more just
nation.
On behalf of the new members, PPT
representative of Monagas state, Felix
Paisano, promised unconditional loyalty for
the process and criticized the attitude of
the leaders of his prior organization.
They have turned their backs on this
militancy that for 13 years decided to found
a political shield that could be an
instrument of guidance, of change with
President Chavez, Paisano commented during
the event in the Municipal Theater of
Caracas.
We watched as these leaders supported
contenders of those who are against the
process but with heads held high we resign
and we decided on behalf of those in the
states and feel represented by us, he said.
For his part Aristobulo Isturiz, member of
the national directions of PSUV and elected
president of his campaign command called on
the new militants to study the declaration
of principles of the organization, of the
statutes and program documents. |
